Masquerade Rules

1. Another Anime Convention's 2008 Masquerade is open to all registered attendees. Staff and guests are not permitted to enter.

2. All costumes and skits MUST be pg-13. This rule is absolute! Any contestant that breaks this rule will be automatically disqualified, and removed from the main event hall. Sorry Reno, yes stripping counts. :(

3. Another Anime Convention's masquerade is reserved for Anime, Manga, or Japanese video games. All other costumes are prohibited, this includes, J-rock, Gothic Lolita, and all non Japanese media.

4. All costumes must be made by a participant of your group. Commissions and bought costumes are not allowed. Any piece that is commissioned will not be judged, and yes, we will know.

5. All costumes must be self contained, this mean no plugs, cords, or various tentacles that may trip others.

6. All contestants must be able to move their costume on their own. So please no 80lb wings or giant mecha unless you can walk up stairs in it.

7. You must be able to set up/take down you skit within 15 seconds. Also, there should be no pieces left on the stage after your skit/walk on. We will not supply stage ninjas, as they are currently out of stock. If you are in need of stage ninjas please bring your own. They will not count towards your group limit, but must be accounted for in your registration form.

8. Groups are limited to 6 members. Exceptions will be made for stage ninjas.

9. Please do not wear a costume that has won a craftsmanship award in another contest. We encourage you to wear a costume that has been entered in other contests but has not yet won an award. Exceptions will be made only for costumes being entered into a higher category. I.e. If you have won one for the costume in the novice and enter it into the advanced division.

11. Each person may present only once in the masquerade.

12. Contestants must report to the Masquerade headquarters on time for their judging. Failure to do so may get you disqualified. If a contestant is more than five minutes late their slot will be given to the next available contestant. You will be given the opportunity to get judged at the end of the line or when ever there it a free block. The masquerade headquarters schedule will be posted before the convention, and on the headquarters door. Schedules for judging, and when the judges will be available will also be posted.

13. Contestants are prohibited from entering or exiting the stage while running, or jumping, skipping or falling. Though we cannot foresee the last of said options.

14. Any presentation with stunts, stage fighting, or excessive dancing must be approved by the masquerade coordinators. Please preregister; and include your skit description in the proper entry box. The masquerade coordinators will contact you if your skit raises an issue.

15. All props must meet Another Anime Convention's weapons policy standards.

16. Another Anime Convention reserves the right to award an individual or group one or more awards.

17. By participating in Another Anime Convention's masquerade it is possible your image may be used in an advertisement or promotional item. If you do not want your image used, please make note of this at the bottom of your entry form or by contacting the masquerade staff via Masquerade@anotheranimecon.com.

18. All skits are limited to two minutes. This makes a change from last year, so please make sure to adjust anything you've started working on accordingly.
