The theme of the AAC 2017 Chess Match will be SWEET vs SALTY and all pieces will be split into those two teams.
WHAT IS COSPLAY CHESS?
A game of human chess where two sides wage battle to see who is the best, Salty or Sweet. Led into battle by opposing Kings, participants act out the chess match and fight other pieces as they are taken. You do not need to know how to play chess to participate, but you do need to sign up in advance!
HOW TO SIGN UP
All entrants must have their costumes 100% finished when entering and must provide:
1. A reference photo of their character
2. A photo of the contestant wearing the finished costume
– Please submit photos linked to a third party image host such as photobucket or imgur and NOT a social media platform. If we are unable to see your pictures or you do not submit pictures, you will be disqualified from consideration –
THE CUT OFF FOR ENTRANTS IS SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 30, 2017
Exceptions to team classification can be made in dire need of filling spaces on each team, and no repeat characters will be selected. It is recommended that you submit numerous different characters that fit either side to give yourself the best chance at a spot. Some characters can be considered for both sides depending on scenario in the anime, so if that’s the case we will make a determination for which side based on necessity.
You will be informed of your acceptance no later than WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 4, 2017.
If you have another cosplayer you would like to use as a special attack, include their photos alongside your own and include their reference photos as well. If necessary, your special attack may be graduated into an actual piece on the board. You may also be paired with another cosplayer for this purpose.
Please note that not all special attacks will be accepted.
THE CHESS MATCH WILL BE SUNDAY MORNING, PLAN YOUR ENTRIES ACCORDINGLY.
All participants are required to sign in no later than 8:00 PM Saturday Night or else they will be replaced.
